Timber & Composite Decking

Decking that’s solid, level and built around your garden.

A good deck turns the garden into an extra room: somewhere to eat, sit, and step straight out onto from the kitchen. We design and build decking for homes in Benfleet and across south Essex, including Southend, Basildon, Rayleigh and Leigh-on-Sea, in both pressure-treated timber and composite boards.

Most of what makes a deck last is underneath it. The frame, the fixings and the levels are where the time goes, because they’re what stop boards sagging, rocking or holding water. That’s carpentry, and it’s the same approach we bring to every structural job.

Gardens are rarely flat and rarely square, so our decks rarely are either. We’ve built raised decks with wide steps down to the lawn, angled layouts that follow the line of the house, and a circular deck built around a mature tree rather than taking the tree down.

Timber or Composite?

Choosing the right decking for your garden

Both have their place. The right choice comes down to how you use the garden, how much upkeep you’re happy with, and your budget.

Pressure-treated timber

Natural, warm underfoot and the most cost-effective option. Timber weathers over time and benefits from an occasional treatment to keep it looking its best.

Composite boards

Made from a blend of wood fibre and plastic, composite resists rot and splintering, holds its colour well and needs little more than a wash down.

Raised and stepped decks

Where the garden slopes or the doors sit above the lawn, a raised deck with proper steps turns an awkward drop into space you’ll actually use.

Built around what’s there

Trees, drains, manholes and awkward corners can be designed around rather than removed. Our circular deck around a mature tree is a good example.

A solid frame underneath

Joist spacing, ventilation and fixings are what separate a deck that lasts from one that moves. It’s the part you never see, and it’s the part we take most care over.

Straight out from the house

Set at the right height, a deck gives you a near-level step from bifold or French doors straight onto the garden.
